As we mourn his physical absence, we also celebrate a life beautifully lived, filled with enduring memories.

  • Wednesday, 22nd July 2026
    • 10:00 a.m. – A Funeral Service will be held at St. Luke’s Church of Uganda, Ntinda, Kampala.
    • Thereafter – The body will proceed to the family residence in Najjera I, Bulabira II, Mutumba Lane for an overnight vigil.

Journey to Kitgum District

  • Thursday, 23rd July 2026
    • 6:00 a.m. – Departure from Kampala to Kitgum District.

Kitgum Services & Vigil

  • Friday, 24th July 2026
    • 10:00 a.m. – A Funeral Service will take place at St. Janani Luwum Church of Uganda, Kitgum Town Parish.
    • Thereafter – The body will proceed to Gang Dyang for an overnight vigil.

Burial Service

  • Saturday, 25th July 2026
    • 10:00 a.m. – The Final Burial Service will be held at the family home in Lumule Village, Matidi Sub-county, Kitgum District, where Olanya Alfred will be laid to his eternal rest.

The family has arranged the following funeral program to honor the life and memory of Gambakaawe John:

Thursday, 16th July 2026

The body will repose at the Miles Funeral Services – Mbarara Office, where preparations for the final farewell will be made.

Friday, 17th July 2026

A church service will be held at 3:00 PM at Nyabitote Hiika, located next to Nyabitote Primary School in Nyabubare Sub-county. Family, friends, and well-wishers are warmly invited to attend the service in celebration of his life.

Thereafter, the body will be taken to the family home in Rugooma Cell, where an overnight vigil will be held. This gathering will provide an opportunity for loved ones to reflect on his life, offer words of comfort to the bereaved family, and stand together in prayer and remembrance.

Saturday, 18th July 2026

The burial service will take place at the family home in Rugooma Cell, where Gambakaawe John will be laid to rest with dignity, honor, and love in the presence of family, relatives, friends, and well-wishers.

Thereafter, burial will take place on Thursday, 16th July 2026, at 4:00 PM, at the family’s ancestral home in Ssempa Lukooge Village, Luwero District. Family, friends, and well-wishers are invited to attend the final farewell as Balambi Ruth is laid to rest with dignity, honor, and love.

After the church service, preparations will continue for the final farewell. Burial will take place on Sunday, 12th July 2026, at 4:00 PM, at the family’s ancestral home in Ntyazo Village, Lwemiyaga, Sembabule District, where David will be laid to rest in the presence of family, friends, and loved ones.

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Kakooza Micheal, who was born on 28th February 1973 and peacefully departed this life on 2nd February 2026. His passing has left a deep void in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew him, yet we take comfort in the promise of eternal life through Christ.

Kakooza Micheal was the son of Paul Gawera and the late Samali Nakagulire. He hailed from Katugo Village, where his roots remained strong throughout his life. From a young age, Micheal showed dedication and discipline, values that guided him through his education and later life.

Education and Early Life
He began his primary education at Katugo Primary School and later continued his secondary studies at Katikamu SDA School. These formative years shaped his character and faith, preparing him for the responsibilities and challenges of adulthood.

A Life of Faith and Hope
Micheal lived with a deep awareness of God’s presence, drawing strength from scripture and prayer. His life echoed the words of the Bible:

“Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord… they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them.”

Final Journey and Farewell
Family, friends, and the Christian community gathered in prayer and worship during the Requiem Mass, lifting Micheal’s soul to God with hymns, scripture readings, and thanksgiving for a life lived. The liturgy reflected hope beyond the grave, reminding all present that death is not the end, but a passage to eternal rest.

Though Kakooza Micheal has left this world, his memory lives on in the hearts of those who loved him. His journey on earth has ended, but his soul rests in the loving hands of the Lord.

A pillar of his family and a beacon of service to his community, Kikomeko Deziderio’s life was marked by humility, integrity, and unwavering commitment to the wellbeing of those around him.

A Life of Service

Born in 1956, Kikomeko began his early education at Galiraya Primary School. He would later dedicate most of his adult life to public service and community leadership:

  • Chairman, LC1 – Galiraya Village (1986–2025), faithfully serving his community for nearly four decades.
  • Chairman, Health Management Committee – Galiraya Health Centre III
  • Treasurer, Kawango Cooperative Society

His leadership was grounded in compassion, fairness, and wisdom, making him a father figure not just in his home, but throughout the wider Galiraya community.


We remember Kikomeko Deziderio not only for his roles and titles, but for the love he gave, the peace he stood for, and the legacy of honor he leaves behind.
